From Phnom Penh To Angkor Wat

Last moments in Phnom Penh:

We got up at 5 am and booked a cab to the Phnom Penh airport. There, a solitary Cambodian Air propeller-plane was waiting for us and maybe 10 other passengers:

Flew over a pretty giant lake, so big I had to look it up on a map: the famous Tonle Sap Lake.

We got to our guesthouse immediately upon landing, changed, and went back out by 9:30am to begin our day at Angkor Wat. As you saw from the pictures before, it’s quite a wonderful place (a snarky understatement, if you couldn’t tell):

The internet is so slow I’m giving up with showing too many pictures from our 1st day out of a 3 day tour of Cambodia’s Angkor Wat complex.

What we did today in order:

  1. Angkor Wat
  2. Angkor Thom
  3. Bayon
  4. Baphuon
  5. Terrace of the Elephants
  6. Phom Bakheng
  7. Ta Prohm (where Tomb Raider was filmed!)
  8. Ta Keo
  9. Banteay Kdei

Simply put, it’s not overhyped…it’s STUNNING, especially Angkor Thom and Bayon.

Unfortunately, as I mentioned, all the internet cafes have dismal uploading speeds, which means limited pictures or videos at the moment. This makes us sad.

This is the best I could squeak out with during the composition of this blog post:
