“The World’s Most Dangerous Countries”

Travel and Leisure came out with a list of 15 of the world’s “most dangerous countries.” Out of that list, we’ve already recently been to 3 of them, dallied on the border of 2 others and are planning to go to 2-3 more within the year. In our experience, some of them really aren’t as dangerous as they say they are. Trust us, we know first hand.

The official list:

  1. Pakistan (we’ve been on the contentious “Line of Control” border between India and Pakistan, and we’re going there next summer)
  2. Sudan
  3. Georgia
  4. Lebanon (we’ve just been, and had a blast — no pun intended.)
  5. North Korea (ha! we’ve just been there too, and even had a famous off the map adventure)
  6. Syria (we’ve recently been on the border, and been trying to go there for the last year)
  7. Yemen
  8. Uzbekistan
  9. Iran (we’ve already made concrete plans to head there next Spring. It’s happening.)
  10. Algeria
  11. Afghanistan (a possible detour after Pakistan this summer)
  12. Eritrea
  13. Zimbabwe
  14. Burma/Myanmar (we’ve just been there as well)
  15. Iraq (another possible detour after Pakistan)
