Our group of 24 headed out 2pm in the afternoon for Helsinki, Finland from Stockholm, Sweden by sea. We hopped on the Viking Line m/s Gabriella departing at 4:30pm, with a 10:10am arrival the next day.
The process, like on DFDS, is straightforward. Show them your booking code number or give them your name you used in their online reservation system and you’ll get your hybrid ticket/keycard.
Once you board, drop off your bags and start drinking on the 9th floor sundeck!
Or head to the 6th floor for their dry sauna, steam room, and jacuzzi club (8 euros per person for 90 minutes)
Then we headed up for a 7:30pm buffet dinner (36 euros per person including all-you-can-drink) on the 8th floor while watching the sunset.
At 9pm the group congregated and took over the karaoke portion of the ship’s program, belting out hits like “I Want It That Way”, “Lost That Loving Feeling”, “Airplanes”, “Like A Prayer”, and “My Heart Will Go On.”
At 11pm was a variety show featuring dancing to top 40 hits and a very talented transvestite:
There’s also a casino and bar in the same area where the show is, in case you’re looking for alternative nightlife options. But otherwise the dancing begins at midnight, and they have a great DJ:
At 10:10am, we docked at Helsinki, Finland to a beautiful day.
