After a morning driving around Streymoy and from the city of Tjørnuvík, we turned back into the island of Eysturoy for 45 minute drive towards Gjógv, a village located on the northeast tip of the island and one of the best natural harbors in the Faroes.
‘
Along the way we stopped at Hvithamar Trailhead for views over the harbor.
We then continued our village hopping past Funningsfjørður …
… to Elduvík, 30 minutes south from Gjógv.
This cute village by the shore lies at the end of a long valley surrounded by mountains.
Finishing up our day at Eysturoy, we considered stopping at Norðragøta on our way back. Instead we decided to visit the next day for 5 quick minutes to stretch our legs and pet some horses nearby; Norðragøta is home to the G! Festival, one of the largest music festivals in the Faroe Islands.
Afterwards we returned through the underwater tunnel of Eysturoyartunnilin for our return drive to Tórshavn.
