“Spanish North Africa, Morroco, European Spain, Gibraltar, and a pitstop in Portugal. There is not enough room in this caption to describe all the details of this trip and pictures and videos do not do the trip justice. This summer trip was a revival of traveling with friends and strangers and it felt familiar but different, I have changed so my perspective of traveling has changed. I am excited for new things to come and making peace with the past things that have happened. 1. Meeting up with old friends and new friends in Algeciras to take a ferry to Ceuta, Spain on the continent of Africa. 2. The first sunset view from the balcony in Ceuta, Spain makes a beautiful first impression.
3-4. A dash of architectural landmarks and views of Ceuta hinting at the history of the city.
5-9. Crossing the border from Spain into Morroco for an 8 hour road trip along the winding paths of the Moroccan coastline.
Catching the moment when the sun disappeared behind a mountain during a Morrocan sunset and finally making it to the hotel after crossing the border between Morroco and Melilla, Spain.
10-13. Exploring Melilla on borrowed time before parting ways with friends.
13-16. Missed the bus to go to Gibraltar so rented a car to roadtrip instead. Observed families of Barbary macaques. The Rock of Gibraltar allowed views of two continents and three countries all from a single spot. Got to point out at the African coastline and say “Hey, l was just over there!”
17-20. Overcame my fear of heights to hike El Caminito del Rey for the gorgeous views of canyons and streams. Explored Malaga and saw stray cats posted upon castle walls. A long and early layover in Lisbon, Portugal allowed exploring the city when it is just about to wake up and before it became busy with tourists.
